Proud Grandparents

28 October 2007 - Yes, we did finally get here and have started our long journey into spoiling grandchildren. The really great news is that Lori and Dave are very understanding of the special needs of new grandparents and handed over little Matty almost as soon as we came in!!!! In addition, they surprised us the second day we came in with an offer to go to the mall with them or stay home and keep Matty! Bet you can guess which one we chose. The best news of all was he was a perfect angel while they were away and we had nothing to do except enjoy him the whole time. Here are a few photos we took so we had something to drool over while we were being 'understanding' in-laws and not hanging out at their house every day. As you can see we just can't get over how much hair he has. Yes Charles, he has more than the rest of the Crawford men put together!!!

New Air & Space Center near Dulles

24 October 2007 - I have noted our visit to the new Air & Space Center near Dulles and these are the photos to remind me of that visit.

This is a shot of the interior and it was awesome!

Needless to say the Blackbird is something to behold. Rated multiple phoots!

Of a different age but absolutely beautiful was this old polished Pan American Clipper!!

Most of us are aware of what Voyager looks like (Rutan's first round-the-world non-stop airplane) but I had not really had a good view of the first Solo trip in another Rutan plane - Global Flyer. Looks like Fossett is lost to the world now!

Another highlight was the Shuttle. I thought it would be larger than it is but absolutely overwhelming anyway!

You old folks remember the flotation collar used to keep the spacecraft from sinking after landing in the ocean? Remember when it DIDN'T have one?

Shot of GlobalFlyer and the Concord.

Most folks have seen the Wright Flyer (or replicas) but ever seen a Model B?

They have a 'Control Tower' in the Center and this is the view out the window.

And finally, a little artistic touch at the entrance to the Center.

Indian Heritage Center in DC (and others)

24 October 2007 - I'm going to try to catch up on our photos so be patient with me and note they will be somewhat out of sequence with anything 'before Florida' having been taken some time during our travels after attending Dave's Masters graduation and our return for the greatest grandchild ever!!!

We began our journey around the old Smithsonian building as I always recall it as it was back in 1962 or so on my first visit to DC.

Down the way was the Indian Heritage building. Becky visited the displays and I practiced my photo 'art'.

Having spent our time pounding the pavement we returned to our beginning and a rest.

One of us rested more than the other!!!

Dave and Lori Crawford Blog

22 October 2007 - Lori has begun the process of keeping their Blog uptodate with photos of the baby. I will only post photos I figure she will not post henceforth so please view their Blog at http://dlcrawfords.blogspot.com for extensive photos of baby and family.

Dave Matthew Crawford - Matty

22 October 2007 - Here are the photos provided by the proud parents, Dave and Lori. Mom and Matty look absolutely beautiful a few hours after the birth (I'm sure you agree). Dave has settled in nicely to fatherhood two days later and, finally, Matty goes solo at the ripe old age of 3 (days that is). Regretfully all info we can provide is secondhand at this point but that will be rememedied less than 24 hours from now!! Just spoke to Lori and all are doing well with the small exception of the adults are a little short of sleep but baby is getting plenty!! Welcome to parenthood, right all you old folks?

He was exactly one week earlier than expected and Becky and I missed the birth by exactly one week - baby knows best. We are on our way as I write and will provide extensive info and photos ASAP!!

Barns and Walks

16 October 2007 - I became fascinated with the barns (as you can tell) so here are a couple more for view. The walk was up in the National Forest and also captured my eye. The second barn (two photos) belongs to someone we met in Ellijay and is featured in one of Becky's Floor Cloths she calls Tres' Barn. The horse did not make the cut for her art work.
