25 January 2008 - Sorry to simply drop off the face of the earth for the month but it has been quite a month!! We sadly departed Matty (and Lori/Dave) on 2 January for a quick trip north to Destin, Florida to meet our daughter, Melissa, and her fiancee, Ryan (and renew an old acquintaince with his mom - we all knew each other in England all those years ago!). We had a great time with all of them with a 'hiccup' in that Ryan cut his hand very badly and was in pain most of the time we were there. He is doing much better now so we are most pleased there was no permanent damage as far as he knows.
We left there for Texas via Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana driving along the coast enjoying the scenery and seafood. We were much surprised at how much hurricane damage still exists and will post a few photos of what we saw when we get a chance. We had heard great things about the state parks in Louisiana so intended to sample a few of them before going on to Texas for our one month stay near a Sam Rayburn Reservoir in southeast Texas. Unfortunately we had been there only a week when we received word that Becky's mom was critically ill so we packed up and made the 1000 mile trip in a record (for us) 2 days. The good news is after being here (High Point, NC) 2 weeks, mom is out of the hospital and appears to be well on her way to being her old self. If she continues to improve we plan on departing here early next week to resume our journey to Texas.
We will hopefully be back on track within a week or so and we thank all of you for your prayers and wish you well!
