RVing in Colorado

18 June 2008 - We have now RV'd in a number of states (I'll count it up later) and this is perhaps our best yet as far as setting (and temperature).

James, Dave, Lori and Matty joined us here for Father's Day (I am blessed) and here are a few 'teasers' for you until I get more Matty photos posted. Lori and Matty decided to enjoy the weather (and grass).

Of course Grandma was glad to see Matty and it appears the feeling was mutual. Matty was a little put off by Grandpa's hat at first but soon decided I was not all that bad to hang out with.

While Grandma and Matty enjoyed each other's company, the kids and I went down the Rio Grande in a raft. It was a 3 hour trip and most enjoyable as it gave us a different view of the mountains. Everyone managed to get a little wet along the way but the river was relatively benign and made for a leisurely float.

We are staying at Antlers Lodge just outside Creede, Colorado. It is located right on the Rio Grande (the river is just in front of the cliffs) and is in one of the largest valleys I remember seeing!!

There are three cabins on the other side of the Rio Grande and the owners have designed and built this swinging bridge for access. Becky gets a little seasick walking across if more than one person is on the bridge!

These are the three cabins across the river. They sit back in the trees right at the base of the mountain. They are the most secluded of the accomodations.

Guests are invited to sit on this deck to enjoy their morning coffee or whatever. In addition there is a separate area for dinner guests if they choose to eat outside.

This and the following shots of the RV spaces show the views and size of the area. Having only 24 spaces means it will never be very crowded and the owner tells us it is seldom full. The fact that there is a VERY large RV park nearby may have something to do with that. More room for us!!
