Dave looking back

We decided to visit one of the Escapees parks since there was one near Knoxville. Escapees handles our mail forwarding and is geared toward Fulltime RVers so we needed to get a feel for their facilities. We were pleased with the conditions so stayed for several days to visit the area. One of the attractions was a rebuilt farm containing many of the old buildings and a museum of musical instruments, etc. of the area. Here Dave remembers growing up in Arkansas with one of these as 'normal'. The memory of a Black Widow bite one night while using one of these was fresh. Posted by Picasa

On to Tennessee

Leaving Arkansas after a brief stop in Benton to visit the local Walmart and pick up Dave's prescription to keep his blood pressure under control, we left Arkansas for a year and entered Tennessee through Memphis. We made a short overnight stop and went on to Knoxville. Here we encountered our first real traffic and vowed to avoid Knoxville in future if possible. This is a nice view crossing the bridge along the way. Photo courtesy of Becky. Posted by Picasa

Fruits of our labors

After a few hours of fishing, we returned to camp to find fish and hush puppies frying, old time fried potates frying in a huge skillit and cole slaw and iced tea on the table. Carlene and Jerry's friends from Benton had been busy while we were out fishing and had it all ready for us. What a great way to end the day!!!
Thanks to all for their warm welcome. Posted by Picasa

Not a Bad Catch!

A few hours later we were back at the camp with work to do! Worse thing about catching fish is having to clean them when you get back. These are some of the largest bream I had ever caught with the largest being 3/4 pound. All caught on crickets fishing in shallow water. Posted by Picasa

Becky and Jerry going fishing

At DeGrey's Lake in Arkansas, we met my cousin Carlene and her husband Jerry for a week of visiting and fishing. Here we are on our way out to catch fish in their pontoon boat. The weather was perfect and and the fishing was good. Now this is what retirement is supposed to be like! Posted by Picasa

Second Stop in Hugo Oklahoma

Leaving Grove, Oklahoma we continued in the wrong direction (we are really headed NW) we drove South to visit Sue and Charles in Hugo, OK for a few days before heading East (yes, still in the wrong direction) to be with Becky's Mom and sisters. This time we chose the solitude of the trees vs the view of Lake Hugo. We were one of two campers in this whole section of the park. Obviously too early for the 'working' folks to be out. No complaints from us. Charles took Dave out on the lake fishing but the heat and time of year dictated all fish come from the Cedar Shed in town. Charles graciously agreed to get Becky (the Airplane) in shape to sell. A decision he will regret later. Posted by Picasa

It All Started Here

This is our first stop, in Grove, Oklahoma at Cedar Oaks RV Resort. As you can see, Becky set a very high standard to live up to in selecting our campgrounds. This is the view from our 'Patio' and to top it off, in the small town of Grove we found an Internet cafe. Posted by Picasa

Crawford Travel Log #1

This is the travel log for Dave and Rebecca Crawford. We are full time RV'ers as of April 2006 and plan on doing this for a year and then deciding whether or not to continue our travels or settle down somewhere. We believe the decision will be easy and we will continue to travel.

We will post notes and photos periodically so our friends can keep track of us. If you have questions or suggestions please let us know.
