Cutting Horses in Oregon

We went up to Ft. Klamath last week to the North West Cutting Horse Association's meet. It was very well attended by both professionals and amateurs from all over the US. I talked to folks from Texas and Arizona but noted many license plates from farther east. What wasn't there were any non-participant spectators!! Becky and I were about it. As a result we had our choice of seats and vendor prices were more like downtown prices. Quite unique.

The first photos give some idea of the size but since the land is flat I could not get a good overview. Take my word for it - there were several hundreds vehicles and horses at the meet.

The next series show a saddle maker. He is from Australia and made some beautiful saddles. I didn't ask the prices but they looked like one of those 'if you have to ask you can't afford it' items. The leather was the softest I had felt on a new saddle.

The action photos are my attempt at capturing the speed and agility of these horses. Probably not successful but those horses are a joy to watch.
