I apologize for the quality of the photos but they were taken at an annual performance of Wadsworth’s The Song of Hiawatha. In case you do not remember, the poem opens with
On the Mountains of the Prairie,
On the great Red Pipe-stone Quarry, ...
The play is performed in the town of Pipestone, MN at the sacred Pipestone Quarry. It was a great find and many thanks to the Johnson’s for taking us!!! These photos were taken just at dusk and our little camera was just not up to it. The entire play is performed after dark and the ending with Hiaawatha crossing the lake standing in his canoe and then just disappearing was a super ending. The setting made the play.
