Mt. Airy, NC

Back to our day trips from Bandits Roost near Wilkesboro - This is Becky with Andy and Opie in front of the theatre in Mt. Airy. We have heard there has been a request to add a statue of Barney in the town but their request to the 'owners' of the Barney name have turned them down. Doesn't seem fair does it? Why on earth would they refuse?
The second photo is of Andy's original home in Mt. Airy. It is now rented out to tourists and a sign in front request visitors respect their privacy. Yes it is as small as it looks. From humble beginnings' as they say. To Andy's credit he has kept his ties to his home town and the whole town appeared to appreciate him and his support for the town. On the other hand, the town has done a very good job of keeping the tourist angle very low key and the town much as it was 50 years ago.
