Wood Carvings by Dave Hoch

On the blog for Rochester, MN I noted that Dave Hoch was an outstanding woodcarver (self taught). His wife Rita has kindly sent me photos of a few of his pieces. Everything you see in these photos is wood - including the 'victim' in the first piece and the lure in the last one. What is not apparent in the photo of the last one is the fact that even the gills inside the mouth have been carved!!! The scales, etc. are individually carved and then painted. Believe me you cannot believe the detail. Great couple which we will count as one of the real 'finds' in our travels. Only drawback to this way of life is the short time we were able to spend with them.
